About the Area

Mount Pisgah is located on the crest of the Pisgah Ridge south of Asheville, NC. Steeped in history, this mountain is readily visible from the city in a view known as Mount Pisgah and the Rat. From this direction, the mountain – combined with nearby Little Pisgah mountain in profile – looks like it has a large rat crawling up its eastern side.

Mount Pisgah is one of the more accessible recreation areas along this section of the Parkway, and features excellent hiking trails, a picnic area and campground, and the Pisgah Inn and Restaurant (open April – October).
